The New York Swing Dance society is a not-for-profit organization started in Manhattan in 1985. The Founding Board Members wanted a regularly available dance space with live big bands to swing dance to, especially after the Savoy in Harlem closed, sending all tri-state Swing-a -holics into a tailspin. Thus began what is now a 10-year-old tradition of Savoy Sunday Big Band Swing Dances featuring a variety of live big bands.
