The New York Swing Dance Society
presents dances to live Big Band music.

Dances are open to the public. No membership is required
Dance classes are held from 7-8 PM before the band starts playing. There is no additional charge for these classes which are taught by guest instructors from various dance schools. The band plays from 8:00 to midnight, usually broken up into four sets. Recorded music is played during the three intermissions, so people can still dance while the band is on break. Sometimes an intermission will feature dance performances by guest artists.
St. Jean Baptiste Church has a beautiful floor, and is right by the #6 subway at Lexington Avenue and 77th Street. There is a bar with beer and wine and refreshments for sale.

25th Anniversary Celebration

Special: At 7 PM - Special DVD showing "NYSDS early years"
Instead of a lesson this week, in honor of the NYSDS 25th Anniversary, Margaret will show excepts from her Masters thesis videos and other early footage of great dancers such as Frankie Manning and George Lloyd, at NYSDS dances at the Cat Club and other venues. We invite people to come and share with the group any photographs they may have from those years.
